These have been on hold since Christmas, as I've just slept so much, and have been phenomenally wiped out as my neurological illness flares again. Then I had to focus my extremely limited awake time and energy on a time critical academic journal paper revise and resubmit. But I think I can restart these fun things next week. I enjoy doing them a lot. Initially I plan to alternate the two weekly, so a Benny audio listen and review one week, a Sherlock Holmes short story reread and review the next week, and repeat. With luck I may be able to switch both to a weekly rate again, but this initial alternating plan looks more sustainable for now. I will be resuming with the "The Adventure of the Stockbroker's Clerk" story from The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes, and Bernice Summerfield Big Finish season 6 story number 3 The Lost Museum.
I wrote reviews of 30 games in this year's IFComp. Varying in length, but useful for fellow players, now and in future. I've been mulling copying them over from my thread in the intfiction forum to the IFDB IF database resource for each game. And tonight finally started, prompted by a game author getting in touch with me about something. I'm going to take my time over this. Each review potentially needs editing or updating. And I also have to convert my X/10 IFComp scores to Y/5 for IFDB. Don't want to make mistakes. But have already got 5/30 reviews copied over. And will continue over the coming weeks.
War through a stuffed toy's eyes
Oct. 9th, 2023 05:51 amBriefly sitting up, and just played my 5th IFComp 2023 game. This one was written by someone in Russia, and is a powerful message against war in Ukraine, crafted in the form of a tale about a stuffed toy trying to save its little person. I had some critiques re the user interface, but it was a moving piece. The other person in the intfiction forum who's reviewed it so far also found it powerful.
Scottish poetry
Aug. 28th, 2023 11:16 amCurrent reading (for review). At over 700 pages it's a very hefty book. Luckily I don't need to read everything! Some fascinating content though.

EDIT: and that's nearly 1000 words of review now bashed out, some still in note form. I've been allowed 1000-1500 words by the academic journal. Will finish over the coming weeks.
