Next read: Scarlet by Genevieve Cogman

Picking my next fiction read, which I think will be Scarlet by Genevieve Cogman, an author best known for the Invisible Library series of books. Scarlet is an alternative take on the Scarlet Pimpernel, combining the French Revolution with vampires. That sounds like a fun read.

I read this last year and did enjoy it. Looking forward to reading the next in the series which *checks Amazon* has now been released. I'd had it filed in my brain as being months away.

Non-spoilery observation: I was half-expecting her to put one particular big twist in it, which she didn't. I read in an interview/blog later that she'd thought about it, but didn't go down that route in the end.

Ok intrigued! I'm off to a good start with it, but will be reading slowly over 10 days or longer. Luckily I have read the Scarlet Pimpernel before - or as I tend to call it the Scarlet Pimple! Plus seen TV/film versions.
